POLL RESULT: WALZ VULNERABLE - HAGEDORN WELL KNOWN Recently our campaign commissioned Harper Polling to conduct a survey of likely 1st District voters. (For details click on attached link.) The result validated what I have learned from shaking more than 50,000 hands and personally meeting voters this past year - there is no passion for Tim Walz in southern Minnesota, the Democrat position is exceptionally weak and the Hagedorn name still resonates. In the poll, Hagedorn received 32%, Walz 38%, with the remainder undecided. Given the large share of undecided voters, the race clearly hangs in the balance. Yet, when a 4-term incumbents reelect number is 34% (compared with 39% who preferred someone new), the writing is on the wall. Added to this that 48% of 1st District voters strongly disapprove of President Obamas performance, THIS RACE IS CLEARLY WINNABLE AND OUR CAMPAIGN IS IN STRONG STRIKING POSITION! By campaigning tirelessly, aggressively engaging Walz on the key issues and gaining the support of countless volunteers and GOP activists, our campaign has overcome many of Walzs advantages of incumbency. Even though Tim Walzs liberal record in support of President Obama and his failed policies is probably worth about $1 million in free advertising, we now need your help to raise the funds needed to execute a full media campaign and win back the seat. Our campaign has achieved two main goals these past couple weeks: 1) attain the Republican Partys full backing and 2) demonstrate that Rep. Walz is vulnerable and our campaign is within striking distance. Now that we have accomplished these objectives its time to raise the serious funds needed for victory. I already enjoy high name identification and our districts media markets are modestly expensive. We can win this race with a very limited budget, especially when compared with high-profile races in Minnesota and throughout the nation.
