BOBBY TITCO Pilgrimage Chaplain ITINERARY: 07OCT (Tue). MANILA – DUBAI. Fly to Dubai in the evening. 08OCT (Wed). DUBAI - LISBON – FATIMA. Upon arrival, take the connecting flight to Lisbon to arrive in the afternoon. After immigration and customs, formalities, board your coach and head for the Church of St. Anthony de Padua, built on the site where the saint was born. Across is the Lisbon Cathedral, where St. Anthony was baptized. Journey on to one of the world’s greatest Marian pilgrimage centers - Fatima. Check in at your hotel for dinner and accommodation. (D) 09OCT (Thu). FATIMA. After the celebration of the Holy Mass, meet your local guide for a walking tour of Fatima. Visit the Chapel of Apparitions; the Basilica, where you can find the tombs of the three seers, Francisco, Jacinta and Sister Lucia; Aljustrel - home of Francisco and Jacinta, Lucia’s house with the well where the Angel appeared a second time; Valinhos - site of Our Lady’s 4th apparition; Loca do Cabeco - where children received the first and the third visit of the “Angel of Peace”; and the Stations of the Cross composed of 14 little chapels; and the Parish Church. The rest of the day shall be free for private devotions and prayers. Spend time at the Sanctuary in the Cova da Iria. Meditate and pray at the Chapel of Apparitions, the very heart of the Sanctuary. A marble pillar marks the exact spot on which the Statue of Our Lady is placed. In the evening, join the Rosary and Candlelight procession. (B,D) 10OCT (Fri). FATIMA – SALAMANCA – BURGOS. Continue your journey toward the ancient university town of Salamanca. Photostop at the Plaza Mayor before driving to Burgos for your overnight accommodation. (B,D) 11OCT (Sat). BURGOS – LOYOLA -LOURDES. Depart for the town of Loyola, birthplace of St. Ignatius de Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. Mass to be arranged at the Chapel of Conversion. On to the town of Lourdes, where in 1858, the Mother of God appeared to the then 14-year old Bernadette Soubirous in the remote Grotto of Massabielle. The message with which Our Lady entrusted to Bernadette can be summarized in four words that evoke and amplify the Good News of the Gospels: POVERTY, PRAYER, PENANCE, CHURCH. After dinner, catch the evening Rosary and Candlelight procession. (B,D) 12OCT (Sun). LOURDES. Celebrate mass at one of the chapels in the Basilica. The rest of the day is free for private individual activities. Take time to explore the three superimposed churches built over the Grotto of Apparition: the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception (Upper Basilica); the Crypt; and the Rosary Basilica. Spend time meditating and praying the Holy Rosary at the Grotto of Massabielle, the spot where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette and identified herself as “I am the Immaculate Conception”. The Sanctuaries and pools are always open and religious ceremonies are held everyday: Masses, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; Stations of the Cross; Blessed Sacrament Procession and Blessing of the Sick: Confessions; and the Rosary Procession every evening. (B,D) 13OCT (Mon). LOURDES – NIMES - NICE. After mass, drive along the harbor of the French Riviera to the city of Nice, often called as the “Queen of the Riviera”. Enroute, stop in Nimes for an orientation tour. Check in at your hotel for dinner and accommodation. (B,D) 14OCT (Tue). NICE – ASSISI. Check out of your hotel after breakfast. Leave France for Italy driving through the delightful hills of the Perugia countryside to the walled city of Assisi, hometown of St. Francis and St. Claire. (B,D) 15OCT (Wed). ASSISI. This morning, head for the Basilica of Sta. Maria degli Angeli where St. Francis spent most of his life. See the Porzuincula, the rose bush, and the cave where the saint prayed. On to the Church of St. Clare who founded the Order of Poor Clares and followed the teachings of St. Francis by living a life of poverty and humility. See the saint’s incorrupt body in the Crypt. Cross the piazza and walk towards the huge 13th century Basilica of St. Francis where you can see many of the Saint’s possessions and a series of frescoes depicting his life. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the town. (B,D) 16OCT (Thu). ASSISI – SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO. Journey down south to San Giovanni Rotondo, home of St. Padre Pio. Check in at your hotel for dinner and accommodation. In the afternoon, board the public shuttle to the Parking Area where you will meet up with your local guide. Visit the Church of Santa Maria della Grazie where you can find the small chapel where Padre Pio said mass; his cell which still contains books and clothing that belonged to him; and the Sala San Francesco where he greeted the faithful. Then, visit the new Church of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church) which now houses the new crypt with the exposed body of St. Padre Pio. (B,D) 17OCT (Fri). SAN GIOVANNI - ROME. Travel north to the eternal city of Rome. Visit the Basilica of St. Paul outside the Walls, built over the burial place of the Apostle of the Gentiles and consecrated in year 324. Then, on to visit the Basilica of St. Peter built over the tomb of the apostle. Here, you can find the Pieta by Michaelanglo and the tomb of the late Pope John Paul II. Check in in at your hotel for accommodation. (B,D) 18OCT (Sat). ROME. Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Rome’s historical monuments and basilicas. View the famous Roman Colosseum, Roman Forum; and the Piazza de Venezia. Continue your tour visiting the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the Cathedral of Rome and the Mother of All Churches, dedicated to Our Saviour, and to Sts. John the Baptist and John the Evangelist. Opposite the Basilica is the Scala Santa (Holy Stairs) where you can find 28 marble stairs carefully preserved and which by tradition were the steps walked by Christ on his way to trial before Pontius Pilate. Stop at the Basilica of Sta. Maria Maggiore, Patriarchal basilica dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and famous for its mosaics dating back as far as the 5th century and for the holy relics of the crib. (B,D) 19OCT (Sun). ROME. At 5:00 am, transfer to the Vatican City for the Beatification of Venerable Pope Paul VI “ ceremonies. Lunch at a local restaurant. Spend some free time at the Vatican area. Then, in the late afternoon, return to you hotel. (B,D) 20OCT (Mon). ROME - DUBAI. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast followed by check out. Meet your local guide for an afternoon tour of some of Rome’s famous monuments: Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. In the late afternoon, transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport for your flight to Dubai. (B) 21OCT (Tue). DUBAI - MANILA. Upon arrival in Dubai, take the connecting flight back to Manila to arrive in the evening.
