POSITION The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies at the University of Waterloo is pleased to announce a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to begin July 1, 2014. The attached ad provides details about this position. Please share this information with anyone you feel may be interested. The successful applicant will fill the line currently held by Dr. Stephen Smith who will retire in 2014. The University of Waterloo is located in a vibrant multicultural mid-sized urban environment often referred to as Canada’s Technology Triangle. Waterloo Region is home to over 500,000 people and is situated in rolling farmland one hour west of Canada’s largest city, Toronto. We are within easy distance of world class theatre, major league sport (NHL, MLB, NBA, CFL, and MLS) and first-rate culinary attractions locally, in Toronto, Stratford and Niagara Region. In addition, we are less than two hours’ drive from three Great Lakes (Huron, Ontario, and Erie), the Blue Mountain region, and Niagara Escarpment and multitude of outdoor recreation opportunities those environments provide. Contrary to popular perception, Waterloo Region is closer to the Equator than North Pole, occupying latitude shared by Boston and Milwaukee, and somewhat south of Seattle, Portland, and Minneapolis. We enjoy four beautiful and diverse seasons.
