PRAYING CREATES A GIVING SPIRIT! “Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” 1 Corinthians 8:6 The people who give will not necessarily pray. One of the evils of the present-day missionary movement lies just there. Giving is removed from prayer. Prayer receives little attention, while giving stands out. Those who truly pray will be moved to give. Praying creates a giving spirit. The praying ones will give liberally and self-denyingly. He who prays to God will also open his purse to God. But mechanical, reluctant giving kills the very spirit of prayer. Emphasizing the material and neglecting the spiritual disregards the spiritual. Almighty God, I pray that You will open my eyes and my heart to people in need of material and spiritual things. Guide me through Your Holy Spirit. Amen. The Power of Prayer, E. M. Bounds
