PRESS RELEASE Four Day Science Programm on Miracles begins at Prade College. The Four day Science programme entitled, Fostering Scientific Temperament and Explaining Natural Phenomenon so called Miracles through inquiry based method was inaugurated today at Govt. Woman College Prade Jammu by Prof. Hemla Agarwal, Principal GCW Prade in presence of Dr. B. K. Tyagi, Head Vigyan Prasar Noida. The programme is being organized by National Council for Urban & Rural Dev. Society which is working in the field of education, S&T popularization and inculcating scientific temperament among the masses in general and children & youth in particular throughout the state.This programme is catalyzed and supported by Rashtriya Vigyan Evam Prodyogiki Sanchar Parishad (RVPSP) National Council for Science & Technology CommunicationVigyan Prasar Noida, and Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. After welcoming the Guests and Participants, Programme coordinator Dr. Ashiq Hussain, Professor in Chemistry in the inaugural function said that primary focus of this programme is to discuss “Miracles, myths and supersititions” which are now a days considered a great social problem among all sections of society. B. K. Tyagi, Scientist E, Department of Science and Technology in his introductory address said that Vigyan prasar is active in imparting scientific knowledge among all sections of society from a student, teacher to a common man there by organizing different science related activities and programmes across the length and breadth of the country with the help of VIPNET clubs and other voluntary and Govt. organization. This programme is also one such programme which is being organized with an idea to provide scientific knowledge/facts lying behind miracles, myths and supersititions. About 80 participants from different states of North India, U.P, Uttrakhand, Himachal Pardesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and J & K are participating in it. Prof. VSS Sastry one of the resource persons in his address said that in the four days extravaganza various Scientists/resource persons from Department of science and Technology, Govt. of India, will be interacting with the participants and will discuss as well as perform some practical activities based on these so called miracles. Prof. Hemla Agarwal In her presidential Address lauded the efforts of NCURDS and Vigyan prasar for organizing such scientific programmes which is the need of the hour. She added that the present society is surrounded with so many myths and superstitions and thus such programmes will be of great help to overcome all these social evils. Later on Mr. Kumar Sahil, H.R Head Coca Cola, Mr. Anil Minhas Chief Manager, Amar Ujala J & K and Mr. Vikesh Sandhal, Principal Air force School Satwari were honoured by the organization NCURDS with a citation and a memento for their contribution and help to the NCURDS which they extended during the organization of Industrial Visit Programme in the month of March. Others who graced the occasion include Kuldeep Gupta, Arshad Hussain, Mr. Roop Lal, Dr. Ashok Bhagat besides the faculty members of the Praqde College.
