PRESS RELEASE No: 545/2014 Date: 9th October 2014 Ebola: Gibraltar is vigilant and ready Measures have being taken in Gibraltar to deal with the as yet unlikely event of a case of Ebola being detected. Since August officials at entry points have been fully briefed and vigilant, as have health professionals in both GHA and private clinics. Guidance issued by the Director of Health is regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. Training has been provided to over 100 staff at the GHA. A new isolation wing has been prepared and equipped, protective clothing included, with isolated air flow and an independent entrance. Protocols for dealing with patients, waste, and all other aspects have been set up. The GHA has also provided training to over 100 staff at the Port, the Borders and Coastguard Agency, the RGP, HM Customs and other Government Departments and agencies. While an Ebola case is still very unlikely, all the necessary steps have been taken to ensure that Gibraltar is ready to deal with it.
