PRESS RELEASE On 18th of October 2014 a public gathering / Jalsa of Pakistan Peoples Party will be held at Bagh-e-Jinnah Ground Mazar-e-Quaid Karachi in the afternoon which will end in the late evening apparently. A large number of people are expected to attend the gathering /jalsa. An adequate security plan has been prepared / issued to provide fool proof security to the leaders and the participants to avoid any untoward situation. Around 22500 Police personnel are assigned to provide security. Manpower is accumulated from SRP, Hyderabad and other divisions/regions from Sindh. Zonal DIGPs will be responsible for all security arrangements in their respective jurisdictions, whereas Addl: IGP Karachi will be the over all in-charge of entire security arrangements. Main features from the Security Plan: Jalsagah Security Arrangements 27 Parking lots will be provided Search and surveillance parties using 110 walk through gates and many CCTV monitoring Cameras. VIP route protection General public routes protection Contingency Plans More so Karachi Police has requested for the suspension of all mobile network services in Karachi City on the day of gathering. Use of Drone/remotely operated airborne Cameras by the media will not be allowed. Note: Karachi Traffic Police has also issued a separate operational plan, which includes diversion / parking arrangements and to maintain smooth flow of traffic during the event.
