PRESS RELEASE Special prosecution action against illegally/unauthorisedly parked vehicles in market areas during the Diwali festive season from 18.10.2014 to 27.10.2014 It is observed that large number of visitors come to the markets for purchases during the Diwali festive season. The vehicles are parked improperly/obstructively by the motorists visiting these markets in Delhi resulting into hindrance to the smooth flow of traffic and inconvenience to the general public. In view of the above, the following market areas/stretches have been identified for initiating action against obstructive/improper parking from 18.10.2014 to 27.10.2014, under section 122 /177 M.V. Act read with section 179(1) of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, attracting a penalty of Rs. 100/- plus Rs. 500/- (total Rs. 600/- excluding towing charges) so as to ensure smooth flow of traffic in these areas during the festive season: 1. Kamla Nagar Market 2. Karol Bagh Market 3. Sarojini Nagar Market 4. Lajpat Nagar Market 5. Rajouri Garden Market 6. Chandni Chowk 7. Connaught Place (Inner and Outer Circle) 8. Vikas Marg 9. Ring Road from AIIMS to Ashram Chowk 10. Markets of Dwarka Sectors- 4/12 & 6/10 Vehicles found illegally/ unauthorisedly parked in these market areas shall be towed away and prosecuted. Wheel clamps shall also be used for prosecuting such vehicles. Special enforcement teams of traffic policemen shall also patrol these areas and prosecute violators on the spot. In addition, teams of traffic policemen shall also photograph the violations and issue violation notices to the motorists at their registered addresses. Adequate numbers of road signages indicating the above proposed fine structures alongwith No Parking boards have been installed at prominent places for guidance of general public/motorists before prosecution is initiated. All motorists/public are requested to co-operate with the traffic policemen and park their vehicles in authorized parking lots so that no inconvenience is caused to other road users.
