PRESS RELEASE This an update to the investigation into the murder of Jim Uriostegui which hopefully will clear up any confusion caused by the original press release sent out yesterday. According to information developed during the investigation, the dispute which ultimately resulted in the death of Uriostegui began as a series of taunts and responses between Uriostegui and another individual named Agustin Juan who was also involved in the fight at Highway 20 Trailer Park. Uriostegui and Juan, along with the other individuals involved in the fight, claim affiliation with “gangs”. This gang affiliation was included in the Facebook communication between the two, but it is believed that the dispute was initially limited to these two individuals. On the date of the homicide there was Facebook communication between the victim and the defendant which resulted in Juan gathering a group of friends, including Nava and driving to Highway 20 Trailer Park where he confronted Uriostegui. Uriostegui had friends present as well and the confrontation escalated into the fight between the two groups. I apologize for any confusion but I wanted to make sure the information released was accurate.
