PSALMS AND PROVERBS FOR WOMEN AND MEN AND THE GREATEST OF THESES DAY 341 Love is patient; love is kind. Love does not envy; is not boastful; it is not conceited; does not act improperly; is not selfish; is not provoked; does not keep a record of wrongs; finds no joy in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 The beautiful words of 1st Corinthians 13 remind us that love is Gods commandment: But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of theses is love Faith is important, of course. So, too, is hope. But, love is more important still. Christ showed His love for us on the cross, and , as Christians, we are called upon to return Christs love by sharing it. Today, let us spread Christs love to families, friends, and strangers by word and by deed. You can be sure you are abiding in Christ if you are able to have a Christlike love toward the people that irritate you the most. A DAILY PSALM The earth and everything in it, the world and its inhabitants, belong to the Lord. Psalm 24:1 THE NEED FOR SELF-DISCIPLINE DAY 341 Do you not know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a perishable crown, but we an imperishable one. 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 God is clear: we must exercise self-discipline in all matters. Self-discipline is not simply a proven way to get ahead, its also an integral part of Gods plan for our lives. If we genuinely seek to be faithful stewards of our time, our talents, and our resources, we must adopt a disciplined approach to life. Otherwise, our talents are wasted and our resources are squandered. Our greatest rewards result from hard work and perseverance. May we, as disciplined believers, be willing to work for the rewards we so earnestly desire. The alternative to discipline is disaster. A DAILY PROVERB The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Proverbs 1:7
