"PSYCHONOMY II" (1995) (Everything affects Everything) A nation - TopicsExpress

"PSYCHONOMY II" (1995) (Everything affects Everything) A nation with HIGH MORAL STANDARDS can be linked to a BEAUTIFUL, CLEAN, WELL KEPT PARK. A visitor having the urge to throw away an empty paper cup would be highly inclined to control his desire until he comes to a wastebasket. On the other hand, if the same person with the same longing finds himself in a disorderly place with garbage strewn about, he most likely would not give it a second thought to discard his undesired item also. Similarly, in a deeper sense, capital punishment has been practiced for centuries and yet the rate of crime has steadily risen. It does not work because it lowers the moral standards of humanity, claiming it is a crime to kill but killing under the disguise of "justice". The eager basset hound has discovered the lower level of our legal system - the mistrials, the corruptions, the falsely condemned, the by-products of a society obsessed by power and material wealth - cases handled without moral ethics, the distorted evidence which is hidden under the carpet. The figures in the background are mostly unaware or unconcerned about the true state of affairs. Only one lady in the far right notices a piece of refuse littering the manicured path and makes a special effort to keep her park clean. The tangent circles within the painting emphasize our connection to one another and to the world around us - everything is a part of something else and all parts form a whole. Everything affects everything!
