PWD Sends, In these hot and humid months, it is important to be cautious of molds and mitigate them as quickly as possible. Here are a few tips. 1. Look for water leaks. Bubbling paint, stained ceiling tiles, moist carpet are all signs of either a poor moisture barrier (roof, windows, walls) or a leak inside (pipes, poor insulation on chilled lines) 2. Clean your vent louvers. Dust collects moisture and grows mold. 3. Watch for condensation around supply vents. This can be a sign of poor insulation. 4. Watch for mold on other surfaces and clean it if scene. Mold can grow anywhere given enough moisture, poor air flow, and darkness. Allowing mold to grow in your work or residence (in the refrigerator, on bathroom tile, on indoor plants, etc.) will allow it to be airborne and spread to other surfaces. 5. Reduce moisture in the air by keeping all doors and windows closed. Do not prop vestibule doors (inner doors) open. 6. Run the fan for 5 minutes after showering. Take shorter or cooler showers in the summer. 7. Reduce the temperature difference between room temp and outside temp. Turning the A/C down too far can super-cool your system increasing condensation on surfaces. 8. Run a dehumidifier. Clean your equipment regularly. Any concerns should be reported immediately to your building manager to request PW assistance. POC: LT EVANS DSN # 762 - 5809
