Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest! Isaiah 50:4-7 ; Psalm 22 ; Philippians 2:6-11 ; Matthew 26:14-27:66 At Easter we will reclaim the truth of Jesus triumph, darkened by the days of suffering and death that followed his entry into Jerusalem. Through the mystery of the cross, we are made wiser than those who thought his kingdom a mere political phenomenon. Only when someone values love more highly than life, that is, only where someone is ready to put life second to love, for the sake of love, can love be stronger and more than death. If it is to be more than death it must first be more than mere life. Jesus total love for men, which leads him to the cross, is perfected in total stepping-over to the Father and therein becomes stronger than death, because in this it is at the same time total being held by him. (Pope Benedict XVI) Jesus falls beneath the weight of the cross, so that he may support all who fall and raise up all who are bowed down. Prayer Our Father.............. O Lord, we are so easily deceived still into expecting from you a kingdom governed according to the laws of this world. Keep our eyes fixed on the triumph of life over death through the mystery of the cross, so that we may grow into a deeper understanding of the power of your law of love over the laws of human expectation, through Christ our Lord. Amen. May God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep by the blood of the eternal covenant, Jesus our Lord, furnish us with all that is good, that we may do his will.
