The aim of Dapto Junior Football Club is to get children ‘playing’ and enjoying the benefits of participating in a team sport. COACHES Dapto Junior Football Club has a vision on developing our players in all aspects of the game. We would like to target the training and development of our coaches so they can in turn pass on their increased skills and knowledge to the children. DJFC is completely run by volunteers and this includes our coaches. We encourage anyone interested in becoming a coach to speak to a committee member who will help with the necessary steps. Without volunteers to coach we can’t have a team and the children lose out. The majority of committee members not only give up their time to run the club but also to coach, with some of us coaching two teams. GROUND CLOSURES Ground closures are subject to weather and assessment by Wollongong City Council and Dapto Executive and will be updated on our website and Face Book page. Training and competition is NOT allowed on closed grounds and your child is not covered by insurance if they are injured on a closed grounds. Game day ground closures are normally broadcasted on Wave or i98 FM. Please note that one ground being closed does not mean all soccer is cancelled for that weekend and the website should be checked for information. If your child’s coach does not have internet access and you do please assist and distribute the necessary information to your team. INSURANCE Only those registered with Dapto Junior Football Club are covered by the Insurance Policy. Siblings of registered players are not covered nor are you covered if you are injured whilst joining in a training session. We advise you to leave this to your child’s coach. SHINPADS Shin pads and boots are compulsory and must be worn at training sessions and at all matches. All jewellery must be removed. GAME DAY The 1st team of game day must put up the nets up on their field. This isn’t just the job of the coach who also has a team to warm up, so the more helpers the quicker the job. Nets are located beside the canteen. If you are the last game on your field then it is your responsibility to bring the nets down and return them and any nearby bins to the canteen area. There will be a map indicating numbered fields for age groups in the canteen. Your child/children are not permitted to wear the Club Strip other than on the field of play. Nominated offences carry a number of demerit points which are accumulated to the team. The Board will provide a list of offences and penalties each season. Demerit points will be awarded for offences by players, team officials and spectators. When a team accumulates a given number of demerit points they are given a warning including what may constitute further action. When a team accumulates half of their demerit points they are given a first formal warning including what may constitute further action. When a team accumulates three – quarters of their demerit points they are given a second formal warning, including the possibility of being withdrawn from the competition and will be stood down from their next competition match. When a team accumulates the nominated number of demerit points they are withdrawn from the competition / season. Team expulsion will only occur after the team and its Club has appeared before the Board and have failed to show reasonable cause why they should not be expelled. Where it is noted that a club has persistent offenders, the Board may cite the club, if, in its opinion, the Club is not performing its role of Club discipline. PLAYERS CODE OF FAIR PLAY • Play by the rules. • Never argue with a referee or assistant referee. If you disagree, have the captain, coach or manager approach the official on your behalf. • Control you temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in football. • Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Your teams performance will benefit and so will you. • Be a good sport, recognise all good plays whether they are part of your team or the opposition. • Treat all participants in soccer as you like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of other competitors. • Cooperate with your coach, teammates and opponents. Without them there would be no game. • Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches. • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. PARENT/SPECTATOR CODE OF FAIR PLAY • Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment. • Encourage children to participate, do not force them. • Focus on the childs efforts and performance rather than winning or losing. • Encourage children always to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence. • Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game. • Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performances and skilful plays by all participants. • Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from all of soccers activities. • Applaud good performance and efforts from all individuals and teams. Congratulate all participants on their performance regardless of the games outcome. • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. • Respect the decisions of officials and teach junior players to do the same. • Never ridicule or scold a player for making a mistake. Positive comments are motivational. • Condemn the use of violence in any form, whether it is by spectators, coaches, officials or players. • Show respect for your teams opponents. Without them there would be no game. • Encourage players to follow the rules and the officials decisions. • Do not use foul language, sledge or harass players, coaches or officials. • Any physical contact with a junior player should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the players development. • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
