Parents who have applied online for their child to start school in reception or transfer to junior school in September can now collect their offer online. Today the county council will post offer letters first class to parents who applied using a paper form. The vast majority of children starting reception or year 3 will receive an offer of a place at their parents first preference school this year, despite increases in the size of the reception year group and the number of requests for the more popular schools. In some cases parents may not have received an offer at one of their preferred schools and might want to appeal against this. Parents who have applied online and need to appeal to an independent school admission appeals panel can usually do this online. For children due to start in the reception year it is very important to read the information about the governments infant class size regulations before submitting an appeal.
