Pastor Mikes Daily Devotion Saturday July 12, 2014 Romans 1:16–17, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.” Why would Paul say that he is not ashamed of the gospel of Christ? I believe it is because there was a time in his life when he was ashamed of it. The definition of the word ashamed here is to neglect to understand the value of the gospel. Paul now realizes the power of the gospel, do you? You should know that the gospel is not about the power of God, it is not the source of the power of God, and it is not a channel for the power of God. The Gospel is the actual power of God, when preached, it will be demonstrated in the saving of the souls of men and women. It is through the gospel that we see how man can be right in the sight of God. It is all about living a life in faith and of faith so that others partake of it and in turn they live by faith. The biggest shame would be if we held back this powerful message of God. Ezekiel 2:7–8, You shall speak My words to them, whether they hear or whether they refuse, for they are rebellious. But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”
