Patience is a virtue we all need. With it, we have the ability to wait on the Lord to give us instruction in areas of our life where it is most needed. Many a foolish man has made life altering decisions in the heat of the moment when their emotions were under attack. We need to realize that certain choices cannot be undone. Some of those outcomes will haunt us until the day we depart this life. ...Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Patience will teach you how to cope with uneasy and difficult conditions until the time comes for change. It will empower you and grant you the strength you need in the face of turmoil to stand your ground and maintain your integrity. Patience is a necessity for the believer because there are certain issues in our personal life that WILL NOT change overnight. We will need the graces of patience to sustain us in those most challenging times when we need to put our trust in Almighty God. James 1:19-20 This you know, my beloved brethren. But let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. A hasty man is a foolish man. They will always make impetuous decisions and act out of their emotions. An impatient person hardly sees the righteousness of God working on their behalf because they lack the stamina to wait until He does so. A patient man does not have to answer every call, respond to every matter, or involve himself in every thing. He understands that one word said or deed done out of season can invoke a domino effect that can set off circumstances and spin them out of our control. Wikipedia defines patience as, “The state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. Patience is the level of endurance one can take before negativity. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast. Antonyms include hastiness and impetuousness.” Ephesians 4:1-2 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love. The Lord is calling us to patience. He desires us to wait on Him for instruction before we say or do certain things that may bring added grief to our own lives. Many a man has suffered for making impulsive decisions and some have even caused their own departure from this life because they could not endure their difficulties. Teach us Lord, how to wait. Psalm 37:7-9 Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret, it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be cut off, But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land. Have a blessed day.
