Pavitra Rishta 12th August 2013 Written Episode Episode begins at Deshmukh chawl. Everyone is enjoying food cooked by Archana. Archu comes and serves more food to Soham who protests that his stomach is already too full, why is she giving him more food? Manav smiles indulgently. Archu tells Soham, you have not eaten anything! Nowadays u dont eat anything. I will feed you today with my own hands. Savita and Sulochana look at them and smile. Archana brings a chair forward, sits down and starts to feed Soham. Teju protests, will you only feed Soham Dada, what about us? Wont you feed us too? Archu tells her she will feed everyone. Purvi is in the background holding Pari and strolling. Archu gets up and feeds Teju and then Sachin too. Teju hurries everyone to eat quickly as they will all go out for ice-cream! Archu sits down again to feed Soham, he says Arey Daal is finished, let me get some. He goes to get daal from the table. Savita passes him the serving bowl, he looks surprised, Archu observes Savita’s gesture, Soham takes the daal to Archu and serves the daal. Archu looks at Purvi who is walking around with Pari. Archu tells Purvi to come and eat hot food from her hands. Purvi tells her, let Pari go to sleep, then I will eat! Arjun looks at her and offers to look after Pari while Purvi eats. But she protests that why is he leaving his meal midway? Arjun says hes done with eating and whatever is left, Sachin will have it! Sachin shrugs. Arjun goes to wash his hands, Archu and Manav look at him. Arjun is in the bedroom, taking care of Pari and baby talking with her. He kisses Pari and tells her, why my little baby, let us try now.. He starts rocking baby Pari and singing “Swapnalok se aa pankh lagakey” (in a besura tune), missing half the lyrics Manav enters the room and smiles at them. Arjun looks up and stops singing. Manav tells him, why did u stop, please continue. Arjun laughs, No Baba, actually I dont know the song but Purvi sings it always, so I was trying to make her sleep, but she doesnt want to sleep, just see… Arjun kisses Pari and puts her on the bed, saying, Oh my baby girl! He tells Manav he will leave now but Manav stops him, Arjun, I need to talk to you abt something important. Arjun wants to know what it is, Manav asks him to sit down They sit on the bed by Pari, Arjun starts patting her, smiling. Manav observes him solemnly and tells him, Arjun you are fulfilling a father’s duty very nicely. Theres no greater pleasure than watching your child grow up before your eyes. I also used to look at Soham and wonder when he grows up, how he will look then. Now look how grown up he is. Im sure you have the same feelings abt Pari.. Arjun agrees, Yes, u are right, these feelings are very special! And truthfully, I dont want to miss a single moment. I want to see when she starts walking and walks towards me on her own for the first time, when she says my name for the first time. I want to enjoy every moment of her childhood. I dont want her to be deprived of either her mother’s love or father’s love! Manav says, I know what u are saying… just Im afraid that when Pari grows up she feels that her family is incomplete. Thats why I and Archana have made a decision. Arjun asks, what decision? Manav tells him, We want to get Purvi married a second time With a man who will look after Purvi and Pari very well. . (Arjun looks shocked and perplexed) Manav continues, I know that after Onir’s deception, Purvi has lost faith in marriage and man-woman relationships, thats why shes kept herself busy in her work! But how will she spend rest of her life alone? She will have to think abt hers and Pari’s future. Her past has hurt her a lot, we want her future to be filled with happiness. Do u think we are right in our decision? Arjun looks upset, Manav asks him, Whats the matter? Didnt u like my suggestion? Arjun shakes his head, No Baba, its nothing like that, You are right, Purvi has a right to be happy and Pari shd also get love of both parents. You are right! Arjun looks like hes holding back his tears as he says that. They Pari who is wiggling and kicking merrily on the bed. Manav pats Arjun’s back and gets up and leaves. 2nd scene: Purvi is on the chawl balcony, she turns around and asks Archu where Pari’s clothes which were drying there? Archu tells her she already gathered them and put them away. Archu tells Purvi she needs to talk with her. Actually she doesnt know how to approach her, whether its good or bad for her but its important to talk about this. Archu says, Purvi, you are a very good mother, u take great care of Pari, I know you want to give her a good upbringing, good sanskars. Purvi, we are always with Pari, we will support her lifelong, But a day will come when she will need a father’s presence in her life. She will miss her father in her life and I dont want Pari to suffer because of this absence of a father. Today, Im going to tell you certain things which is very important for you to know. Purvi, when you were a kid, I also faced these same problems. When I took you for school admission, then people asked me your father’s name. I didnt know what to do… because I didnt want you to face hundreds of questions from people when u grew up. So I gave you the name of Manav Deshmukh. I dont want Pari to suffer in future. Thats why I wanted to ask you if you have thought abt your 2nd marriage? Purvi looks shocked and distressed! Archu tells her: Not for yourself, but for Pari’s sake? For her future! See, Pari is little now but she will start understanding everything gradually as she grows up. Before she starts realizing things, if she gets a father, then she will be adjusted to everything as she grows up and she will be happy forever. Purvi is crying and upset, she moves away, thinking, Aayi will never want me to marry Arjun. That means shes talking abt someone else. But whatever happens, I have to think abt Pari’s future now… Archu tells her, whatever your decision, Im always with you! Purvi tells her that shes ready.. Archu is overwhelmed: Purvi, u dont know how happy u have made me! Just see everything will be alright now! Everyone will be happy! You are happy naa? Purvi nods emotionally, Archu kisses her head and thanks her affectionately, then goes from there, leaving Purvi upset. 3rd scene: Roadside ice cream vendor Teju is handing over ice-cream cones to Arjun, Gauri, Soham. Arjun gets another one and hands it over to Purvi, Teju yells, NO, dont give it to her, she has a sore throat! Purvi denies, No, my sore throat is gone! Now Im okay. Arjun asks her sternly: You have a sore throat? Why didnt u tell me? Purvi still denies, Now my throat is absolutely alright! Arjun is kidding with her: Really? Teju says, You had a sore throat naa, if u have this ice cream, u will have it again! So let me have this ice cream instead. Dont worry abt this cone, its going into the correct stomach! She grabs the cone and has it while Purvi looks on sullenly. Gauri smiles at them. Arjun asks the vendor how much the bill is, the vendor says Rs. 140/- Arjun pays him, and asks Gauri where she lived. Gauri replies. Gautamnagar… Arjun tells her they will give her a ride home. The group walk off eating their cones. Gauri hangs back and calls Soham. He stops, she tells him; I need to talk to you abt something.. Soham says impatiently: Yes, say whatever u have to say, phatphat (quickly) Gauri tells him, dont u think Purvi needs someone.. Soham gets angry: Need someone? What do u want to say? Have we left her alone? Look here, Madam, her whole family is with her all her life! Gauri says she knows that but shes talking abt someone else, with whom Purvi can spend her whole life happily, whom she can trust completely. Soham gets offended again, he tells her Purvi trusts her whole family a lot, you mind ur own business. Gauri says, she knows all that but she means something else…which he cant understand! Soham tells her to explain what she means then.. Gauri gives up:.Forget it, you wont understand! Soham gets angry: Are u mad? First u say I want to talk to you, then u say I dont understand anything, first u understand what u want to say then explain to me… Ha, now shes talking! He walks off, gobbling his ice cream, Gauri looks frustrated. Arjun’s is driving his car, Arjun Purvi in front, Teju, Soham, Gauri sitting in the back. Gauri says its so late at night, still theres so much traffic! Purvi agrees, Arjun says, actually its the monsoons thats why its more congested. Normally its always this way.. Gauri says she will get down there, she can go on foot the rest of the way home. Probably, she will reach home sooner. Purvi agrees and asks Soham to take Gauri home. Soham asks, Me? Gauri says its okay, she will manage. But Purvi yells, Soham Dada, shes a girl, going alone, so late at night! Soham says, let her go, shes left already! Purvi insists, shes a girl, how can she go alone? Go with her! Soham agrees, Okay, Im going, dont get angry now! He goes after Gauri, Teju yells after him to take care. Arjun drives off, the car is passing some stalls, Teju yells, Stop the car, Arjun! Its Vada Pav! Arjun is shocked: You want to have Vada pav? At this hour? Teju is all excited and gets down from the car and rushes off to the stall, despite Arjun and Purvi protesting. She orders Vada Pav while Arjun and Purvi sit in the car silently, both are looking upset. Purvi looks at Arjun who is thinking abt what Manav told him that he and Archana have decided they want Purvi to get married a 2nd time…with a guy who will look after her and Pari.. Arjun thinks, Baba wants Purvi to get married again. They must have taken a good decision. Purvi will get married to someone else, I shd not be sad abt this, I shd be happy for her, Purvi will get settled in life, Pari will get love of both parents, she will get a good family. Baba is right, Purvi has a right to move ahead in her life, to be happy. I shd not let my feelings come in the way of her happiness, I had better hide my feelings from her! Purvi is also thinking abt what Archu asked her abt 2nd marriage, about Pari suffering in the future. She thinks, Arjun, I dont like treating u like a stranger. But now I have to stay away from you. Because Ayi wants me to get married again. Now I cant think abt you even by mistake, it would be a sin! Arjun breaks their chain of thoughts and tells Purvi that Baba has talked to him, that he and Ayi want Purvi to get married again. Purvi asks him what did he say to that? Arjun laughs without humor: I said its the right thing if they have decided. Pari will get a father’s love so it must be correct. Its nice… Purvi replies, if Ayi Baba have decided then it must be correct. Both are crying inside but being brave outside and smiling, agreeing to Ayi Baba’s decision. Purvi thinks even Arjun has agreed with Ayi Baba’s decision. But why am I so sad abt this? Next scene: Big traffic jam on some road, all cars are backed up, an ambulance is standing still, its siren blaring but nothing is moving! Soham and Gauri are walking through the traffic. A guy is begging cars to go on a side, its imperative for him to reach the hospital! The other guys tell him cant he see how much traffic there is.. A traffic cop comes, the 1st guy begs him to do something, the cop says he will try to clear a way. Soham asks the 1st guy whats the matter. He says his wife is pregnant, shes in the ambulance but stuck in the middle of the road. Soham tells him, here is a doctor, she will help you! Gauri enters the ambulance, a woman is lying there, crying and yelling in labor pain. Gauri takes a quick look and goes back outside. Soham is assuring the guy that Gauri is a great doctor and she will take care of the guy’s wife. Gauri goes and tells Soham, she cant help the lady because shes not a gynaecologist. Soham doesnt understand, she explains that shes not trained to deliver babies. We have to find a gynaec from somewhere here…she tells him, you look here, I will look there. Soham and Gauri run through the traffic, searching all cars and autos and asking for a gynae… Soham comes to a doc’s car and knocks on the window: Doctorji, gynaec, we need one. The doc asks, why are u looking for a gynaec. Soham tells him. theres a woman there, shes having pains, please come with me… A familiar voice says Soham! Its Onir, riding in the car with his friend. Soham is stunned to see Onir, who gets out of the car at once and asks him, What happened? Why are u looking for a gynae? Soham tells him theres a woman there stuck in traffic who is pregnant! Shes in great pain, can give birth any moment, thats why we are searching for a gynae.. Onir ponders for a moment: What shd I do? Legally I am not allowed to handle any deliveries or patients. But I cant let anyone die without treatment. For the sake of humanity, I have to help that woman! He asks Soham where is the woman, Soham takes him there. Gauri is surprised to see him, he tells her that Soham brought him there.. Onir goes into the ambulance and checks the screaming woman. He tells Gauri the delivery needs to be done, its urgent, give me pen and paper, I will write names of some meds, please arrange from some medical store. Gauri takes the list, goes outside and tells the expecting dad that his wife’s case is urgent and delivery needs to be done in the van itself. The guy requests her to save his wife and child! Gauri asks him not to worry, then tells Soham to get those meds from a pharmacy and arrange for some hot water! Soham rushes off, Gauri gets back in the ambulance. Onir is putting on surgical gloves and mask, pregnant woman is in distress, Gauri helps Onir in delivering the woman’s baby. Newborn baby is heard crying! Onir comes out and tells the guy, Congratulations, you have a daughter! Dont worry! Both ur wife and child are safe! The dad is deeply grateful, shakes Onir’s hand and thanks him profusely, then hugs him! He also thanks and hugs Soham bhai. Soham pats his back and congratulates him! The dad goes in to see his wife and child. Soham and Onir look at each other awkwardly. Soham begins to smile at Onir but the latter walks off quickly. PRECAP: At the Office: Purvi is crying and telling Arjun she cannot marry anyone else but HIM! She tells him, Ayi Baba wont agree to our wedding. But I dont want anyone else to be Pari’s father when she has her own father, who loves her very much!
