Pay it Forward Challenge. So much of the stuff I see on - TopicsExpress

Pay it Forward Challenge. So much of the stuff I see on Facebook goes viral, and stupid crap that is might I mention. How about lets make this one viral. There is a good chance it is about you. This may seem a little bizarre way of getting my point across, but I think I will get to it somewhere in there. I just watched something on the news about some little pinhead doing something that is called, swatting. This term is apparently common in the hacker community, or the gamers community. Well if any of you know me I am an avid gamer and I am considered a hacker to a few of you. The people that know me most know that if I get near a computer I can get into just about anything I want with little to no difficulty. Now I know I am not the smartest person in the world, but I do know my nerd stuff. I probably know more about Marvel Comics than more people, I know how to efficiently solo the pop set to Pandemonium Warden on Final Fantasy 11 and effectively beat the boss with 3 people in under 10 minutes. I am very well known for my ability in the video game Halo and the rest of the Halo series. Some of you know I build my own computers and I build for others. Sweet, custom gaming rigs, I even built one that looked like Jonny #5. Why? Because it was cool thats why. However, I am not known for hacking into your facebook, swatting, or being coerced into acts of violence because of my choice in video games or music. In fact quite the opposite. Some of you know that I was convicted of a violent felony in 2003. I was young, I was stupid, and I wasnt playing video games at the time. I was running around with friends thinking I was the coolest and toughest guy in the city of Aurora, Co. After being arrested for the crime and spending time in and out of prison for various reasons, once because my parole officer didnt like where I was living and told me to live in a homeless shelter where I felt like I was on an A&E production of intervention due to the massive amount of people able to shoot heroin right there in the hallways, which resulted in me calling the Dept. of corrections and telling them I want to finish my parole in prison, which they denied at first while I sat outside of Arapahoe county jail waiting for the warrant that didnt pop until a month later, during which time I figured I may as well get a new job and live my life. In this time I started gaming and seriously getting into computers. Getting into video games became a release for me. If I got irritated I would go play them, A friend of mine, lets call him Jake (name changed for virtually any reason you can think about,) and I would call each other and say, Hey I am having a bad day, wanna play some Halo? We would get online have even worse of a time, frustrate ourselves to oblivion and say, I have had enough for one day, I am gonna call it a night. Later man. The act of distracting ourselves was enough for us not to go and shoot people, start swatting on twitch. Lets go a little deeper, anyone remember the D&D player that killed his friends? Does that mean all D&D players are the same? No, but the media did get hold of that and rip it a new one. Even years later people still make remarks about an isolated incident from years prior. Some people have different interest, I think people that keep their head inside a car are ridiculous, I also think that watching sports is dumb. I dont care who took the ball down the field into the goal more times. I am not part of the team, I am not getting paid, I didnt help the team by cheering for the team or yelling at the referee through the television, I cant stand T.V sitcoms and shows. Does that mean the types of people that do watch and participate in those events are all lugheads, morons or couch potatos? No. In fact if anything they are the very same person I am with video games and computers. They just have a different interest. I have gotten along with numerous kinds of people in my life. Gamers, computer nerds, comic book geeks, people that like Stephen King as an author for some reason I will never grasp, people that know more about cars than I will ever care to know, outdoor type people, cat people (gross), dog people :D the list goes on. We all have different interest but we are all the same in a sense. BUT! This is a big one, there are some weirdos out there. Teens that abuse the power of the internet for their 15 minutes of fame, get on twitch and think swatting is cool, or some psycho that shoots up the school or church nearest to them because they are butthurt that someone picked on them. First off I think the #1 issue isnt video games, it is society. We have given people the option to think that what someone else does is cool. News media, youtube and twitch are major game players here. It used to be only News that would cover these stories and give the ideas to the rest of the world, but now the internet gives free voice to billions of immature idiots that should be locked in a cage to be fed nothing but banana peals. (Yeah I will probably get crucified for saying that one but it is my opinion.) When you are like me and you have so much time to think while the world around you revolves and you can do nothing to keep pace with it, the only thing you can do is think. Thinking gave me the conclusion that some people need to be slapped. I know, I am mean. Seriously get out of your biased opinion of the situation and think. The majority of people that lash out were people that grew up in a lax or ignored lifestyle. Where were the parents at? Nearly all of the people in Colorado Dept. of Corrections came from broken homes, nearly 80% of them do not have a high-school diploma and a large portion dont even have a G.E.D. yet. I am not blaming the schools, I am not blaming the parents, there are lots of parents that dont have the time, for a million reasons. Single parents where the other parent bailed, went to military, passed away in car accident, or just split house hold. However, I know a few single parents that are in school and work yet still seem time to review the childs lifestyle. I dunno about you, but if I was a parent I know I would be in the basement every day to see if my kid was building a pipe bomb behind my back. I only have a dog right now, but I can tell you I know exactly what he is thinking long before he even thinks about it. I know he is going to pee on the tire of that truck, I know he is going to chase that rabbit, I know he wants to play sniff when I let him out to potty, and I find ways to prevent certain behaviors. I wont let him out of my sight, he gets too excited when he sees wildlife and wants to run off. Which brings me to a conclusion of issue #2. Be involved with your kids. Stop letting the little heathens run wild in wal-mart, they are only learning they have no boundaries. If I get hit by one more nerf dart in the pasta isle I am pepper spraying your child and throwing a box of extra thick trojan condoms in your cart. Lastly, since I mentioned your kids, lets mention one more thing. Be involved in everyones lives. You dont know who is having a bad day for what reason. You are the last step in preventing forest fires. (had to throw that line in there somewhere.) That random person that is walking by or struggling with their groceries... Say, Hi. or Can I help you with that? What ever happened to helping grandma across the street? We no longer think what can I do to help, I know the new thing is the Ice Bucket Challenge, good concept, but the publicity turned it from a charity to a fad. Why cant we keep silent about our good works? Instead of standing on the corner telling others of our good nature. I know that publicity did help raise money and all, but it is a fashion statement now. I was challenged, I did not dump ice cold water on myself, did I donate? Thats for me to know. Now I know some of this seems to ramble, but it all has a point somewhere in there. First off stop blaming things just because you dont understand something. Take initiative and do something for the greater good. Everyone wants to be part of something greater than them, now is your turn. Time for you to go and do your good works. Dont tell anyone that you did it. Stop trying to be famous with selfish acts or immaturity. Just do something kind, try the Pay it Forward Challenge. I wont tell you what I did for someone if you dont tell me what you did. youtu.be/WRmBChQjZPs
