Pearls of Proverbs Proverbs 4 This chapter centers on the supremacy of wisdom. Wisdom is superior, excellent, exceptional, and any other term that you can use to describe the pre-eminence of wisdom. Wisdom is a father’s instruction, and our Heavenly Father is instructing us today to be attentive to Him in order to gain understanding and sound learning. We live through wisdom. When we uphold wisdom, we are protected. When we hold on to wisdom, we are well guarded. Wisdom is precious, understanding is costly. Therefore, you need to seek these precious pearls with all that you have. Invest in prayer, read the Bible, share God’s Word, buy books and material that will enhance your spiritual walk, seek godly counsel, and evade perverse ways. Esteem wisdom and you will be exalted; embrace wisdom and you will be honoured. You will be adorned with a garland of grace and a crown of splendour. What beautiful words! Through the pearl of wisdom, • Your steps will not be hampered • You will not stumble • Your path will shine bright • You will live Avoiding the paths of the wicked and the ways of evil men prevents you from a recipe of disaster whose ingredients are the bread of wickedness and the wine of violence. Task Thrice, Solomon emphasized on to the need to pay attention to instructions and teachings. Can you spot these emphases? Reflection Do you take heed of wise counsel? Righteousness shines brighter than any pearl you can think of. The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn shining ever brighter till the full light of day Verse 18. Take it upon you to observe the beauty of sunrise and you will have a glimpse of the stunning and profound splendour of righteousness. In conclusion, this chapter offers insight on how you can avoid perversity through maintaining your focus on God and ensuring that you do not swerve from His ways in any direction.
