Peeps, I absolutely have to share with you one of the most - TopicsExpress

Peeps, I absolutely have to share with you one of the most wondrous Real(Life) stories of love and courage and heroism that I have ever known personally. My heart is bursting with love and pride for my young Afghan brother Farhad Afghan, whom I have known for some time now. He is a young Afghan man who underwent an amazing transformation whilst re-designing himself from a [more bitter, angry, judgmental, fundamental] Muslim young man to a mature young man of kind heart practicing the gentler aspects of his faith, including love and acceptance of all, and which has brought him personal joy and a mission to work for Human Rights in the realm primarily of educating young people, with a focus on young girls who have so long been deprived of the privilege of education. I have had a passion about Afghanistan for many years, especially womens and childrens rights. As such, I have butted heads with many fundamentalist male Muslims and have not been able to disguise my disgust for Taliban (especially the ones that slip over the border from Pakistan), that there is no way that I personally could travel to Afghanistan safely. Nevertheless, my young brother Farhad shares my longstanding vision that the key to human rights in any country, but especially Afghanistan, is the education of girls, and he has kept me abreast of his work, which has not always been easy for him, since he himself cannot be guaranteed 100% safety. I want to share with you an article that he wrote and sent to me this morning and for which he granted me permission to share. Please keep Farhan and others (regardless of your religion or lack of religion) in your thoughts and prayers. He is working hard to realize the dream of so many Afghans, especially children. This is what he wrote: ********************************************** Women are the most beautiful creatures of God By: Farhad Zaheer Last month I had exam through opened competition for the post of Lecturer in Teacher Training College. The post was only one and we were four competitors for one post. After giving exam and two weeks later I was called by General directorate of Teacher Education organization that among four I was hired for this post by high marks of 88 out of 100. In Afghanistan when one person wants to do government job and hired in government’s post, he or she must go to different Ministries such as they sent me to Ministry of High Education to check my documents whether my university documents are true or fake. They sent me to a Kabul public hospital to check us that whether we are physically and mentally healthy or not. They also sent us to Interior Ministry whether we are involved in crime or not. After all going these places I visited many male and female workers. Everyone knows that Afghanistan is almost 99% corrupt country. No one talks in a good way with those who have works like me. They don’t sign only one letter on time. Just for signing one letter they take the letter and tell us go and come tomorrow. Their behavior with us is very badly, even we can’t ask a question from them. They do our small work and take these works three hours or four hours. You don’t know what I mean and what I am going to say and what is my aim? I want to say that I went to Kabul Public Hospital and she was a very caring doctor. Believe me she was very cooperative and she finished our medical test very soon but where we face with male doctors there, their way of talking was not even very well and they were not as much cooperative as women were. After that I went to the Ministry of High Education, there were some male workers. They took my documents and told me that come tomorrow even it was a less work to see my documents to conform that I graduated from university or not. Believe me they made me very tired. They told me come tomorrow at 10 o’clock. When I go 10 o’clock, they did not finish my work, then they told me come on 2 o’clock. I also went to the Interior Ministry, there were all male workers. Just to conform this that whether I am involved in crime or not, they told me come after two days and it just needed 10 minutes to confirm. After all this I went to the Directorate of Social Affairs to make job license in Kabul. The director of social affairs was a female. She was a very intelligent and looking a good and punctual lady. She made job license in 15 minutes. Her all workers were very cooperative and good because their director was a very good lady. I am sure God forbid if she were corrupt her all workers would be corrupt but it was she who have no bad and corrupt man there. For being good of all workers the credit goes to the social affair directress. After all this I came back to Ministry of Education’s Human resource. The director of this was a man. He was good not a bad person. He has a sense for his nation and people. There were three women. They were working under this director and were very co-operative ladies and finished our work even during lunch break. If there were male workers, believe me that they would not finish our work even in it they had the duty for this. Do you know how I passed for this post? There is almost corruption and recommendation in anywhere of Afghanistan. My competitors tried very much to be hired for this post by any recommendation or corruption but they failed. The reason was this that the directress of General Directorate of Teacher Education is a woman by name of “Susan Wardak”. She is a very talented, hardworking and punctual lady in her job that is why there is no corruption and recommendation in this organization. There is almost 100 % transparency her organization. All credit goes to her. By this experience I want to say that it is true that everywhere is good and bad. I don’t mean that male are bad, but I mean girls should be educated, the rights should be given for them. They are the most beautiful creatures of this world. They have more mercy and honesty than male. Why should they always suffer? But I was very inspired by such sensitive and great ladies in Kabul. I asked all worldwide people, international community and specially from Afghanistan government that they should increase their investment on women rights and women education. It is our all duty to empower our women and girls by education and it should be also noticed that we dont have any female candidate for presidential post but for provincial and parliament election my vote would be for a woman because their goodness and kindness always inspire me.
