People in the News MBA Staff Van Raaphorst Joins MBA as Communications Director The Mortgage Bankers Association hired Rob Van Raaphorst as director of communications, responsible for corporate communications, media outreach and MBA media strategy. Raaphorst has more than 12 years of experience; he joined MBA from DCI GROUP and also served stints at Burson-Marsteller and R&R Partners. Envoy Mortgage Launches Correspondent Lending Division Envoy Mortgage, Houston, launched a correspondent lending division with its operations center in Monroe, La. Envoy hired Dan Hastings, CMB, and Todd Cheney, CMB, to build and run the new division. Hastings will serve as executive vice president; Cheney as senior vice president of Envoy Mortgage. Both Hastings and Cheney each have more than 27 years of mortgage lending experience, most recently at Affiliated Mortgage Corp., where they ran its correspondent lending division. Hastings served as president and division manager of the correspondent division at Affiliated, while Cheney was senior vice president and chief operating officer. Hastings also has served on a senior managerial level for Irwin Mortgage Corp., Dime and Chase Mortgage Corp. Cheney previously served as senior vice president of capital markets, servicing and technology for Synovus Mortgage Corp. Both Hastings and Cheney are Certified Mortgage Bankers through CampusMBA, the education division of the Mortgage Bankers Association. Blueberry Systems Adds Kenney, Jones to Executive Team Blueberry Systems LLC, Greenwood Village, Colo., hired Sharon Kenney as director of IT governance and Richard Jones as director of IT infrastructure. Kenney brings more than 33 years of IT experience, previously with Aurora Bank as assistant vice president of IT governance for more than 10 years. Prior to that, she was a technical communications manager for First American Nationwide Documents. In addition, she was owner and technical communications consultant for DataScribe for more than five years. Jones has nearly 15 years of experience. Previously, he served as CIO for Pinal County, Ariz., for more than five years. Prior to that, he was IT operations director for First Magnus for more than eight years. HFF Chicago Hires Carroll as Managing Director Holliday Fenoglio Fowler hired Christopher Carroll as a managing director in its Chicago office to focus on debt placement transactions in the Midwest. Carroll has more than 20 years of experience in commercial real estate finance and most recently served as a managing director for Cohen Financial where he led a team of six. Mortgage Capital Trading Taps Ianni, Miller MCT Trading Inc., San Diego, hired Anthony Ianni as vice president of lender services, responsible for overseeing the company’s mortgage-related ender services. Ianni has more than 20 years of experience in secondary marketing, operations and sales management working with all types of lending organizations. Previously, he held senior positions at various lending organizations in a secondary marketing and correspondent business development capacity, including Plaza Home Mortgage, PHH Mortgage, Franklin American Mortgage and GMAC Bank. MCT also hired Kevin Miller as trading analyst. He will provide clients with independent analysis, training, hedging strategies and loan sale execution services. He has more than 10 years experience, serving previously as a trade analyst at Ally Bank for seven years. FHFA Hires New Senior Staff The Federal Housing Finance Agency appointed Sandra Thompson as deputy director of the Division of Housing Mission and Goals. She will oversee FHFA’s housing and regulatory policy, financial analysis and policy research and analysis of housing finance and financial markets. Thompson joins FHFA from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., where she served in various capacities over the past 23 years. FHFA also named Nina Nichols as deputy director of the Division of Supervision Policy and Support. She currently serves as the agency’s assistant deputy director of the Division of Enterprise Regulation. Prior to joining FHFA Nichols served as senior vice president with JP Morgan Chase and held a variety of positions at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. CoreLogic Promotes Livermore as EVP CoreLogic, Santa Ana, Calif., appointed George Livermore as group executive and executive vice president of global sales and client strategy, with overall responsibility for sales and marketing and strategic growth. Livermore has more than 25 years experience in the housing finance and property information business and was most recently CoreLogic’s group executive and executive vice president of data and analytics. Greystone Promotes Wolf, Hires Kavel Greystone, New York, appointed Rick Wolf, a member of its senior management team, to oversee its West Coast expansion, particularly in California. Wolf’s previous responsibilities included managing production for the Northeast and Midwest offices, as well as product head for Greystone’s small loan program. He joined Greystone three years ago after 10 years with Fannie Mae. Greystone also hired Scott Kavel as managing director in the firm’s seniors housing group, based in Atlanta. He brings more than 20 years of experience to Greystone and has arranged $5 billion in seniors housing finance throughout his career. CBRE Hires Zampa as EVP CBRE Group Inc., Los Angeles, hired Bradford Zampa as an executive vice president in its Debt & Equity Finance group. He will focus on sourcing and placing capital on behalf of institutional clients, and will be based in San Francisco. Zampa has more than 15 years of experience and joins CBRE from Newmark Knight Frank Cornish & Carey’s Capital Group, where he was senior managing director of the finance team and arranged debt and equity for all property types throughout the western U.S. Previously, he was founder and principal of C&C Capital. Widmoyer Joins FirstClose as VP FirstClose, Austin, Texas, hired Dave Widmoyer to manage its Midwest territory. Widmoyer has more than 25 years experience working in the mortgage banking industry in a variety of senior positions at leading organizations. He served previously as regional sales director with Van Wagenen Financial Services; vice president of sales for the Midwest with Triad Guaranty Insurance; managing director with PMI Mortgage Insurance; vice president of mortgage lending with Biltmore Investors Bank; and as production team leader with Chase Manhattan Bank. Titan Capital Solutions Hires Veenstra as National Sales Director Titan Capital Solutions, Denver, hired Joel Veenstra as national sales director. In addition to his sales leadership duties, he will be responsible for Titan’s growth into agency product and a bulk purchasing program in 2013. Veenstra has more than 24 years of experience; previously he served as sales director for Interthinx, where he oversaw the company’s valuation services product line and was responsible for all sales and business development activities for the Western division. He also held executive-level retail and correspondent sales roles with Aurora Loan Services, North American Mortgage/Dime, Washington Mutual, GE Capital Mortgage Insurance and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. LRES Names Abbamonto COO LRES, Orange County, Calif., named Paul Abbamonto as chief operations officer, responsible for LRES’ day-to-day operating activities, including revenue and organic sales growth and financial goals. Prior to joining LRES, Abbamonto served as senior vice president of default services at a national title company. Prior to that, he served in executive leadership positions at PrimaHealth Credit, Citizens Direct, ResMAE Mortgage (Citadel Investments Group) and Countrywide Home Loans. Real Estate Mortgage Network Hires Correspondent National Sales Team Real Estate Mortgage Network Inc., Edison, N.J., said its conduit platform, HomeBridge, is nearing its anticipated launch date of HomeBridge Correspondent for the first quarter and hired the following people for its national correspondent sales team: • Jim Loving (Midwest region) brings 30+ years of industry experience. His background in correspondent lending includes numerous senior level sales positions with Wells Fargo Funding, ICBA Mortgage Solutions and Fleet Mortgage Corp. • Diane Keane (Southeast region) brings 30+ years of industry experience. Her background in correspondent lending includes 14 years as vice president of national sales with Impac Funding Corp.
