People regularly ask me about serving their sewing machines, especially when I tell them they should be having their machines serviced every year, or every 2 at least. Its really important to get your machine serviced to keep it running well and to stop many of the frustrations you encounter with a poorly maintained machine. You can do a little bit yourself, like cleaning the fluff out from around the bobbin case, putting some oil in if your machine needs it and changing the needle regularly but you really need the insides looking at every now and then - just like your car. If you inherit a sewing machine it really is the first thing you should do After a bit of searching Ive found 2 fairly local ones in HE Hampshire. There is one in Basingstoke 01256 211505 or there is one in Alton called Alton Sewing Services. There is also Sewmaster in Reading 0118 957 1845, Impact Sewing Machinery in Alresford 01420 564433, So - now theres no excuse, go and get your sewing machine serviced and enjoy your sewing even more I would add however, I have no experience of any of these companies, its just a list of contacts for you. If anyone has used them or does, as a result of this post, please let me know about your experience
