PhD Opportunity A doctoral candidate is being sought to work under the supervision of Professor Walsh (Singapore) on the tangible histories of the Armenian community in Famagusta, Cyprus. This research will focus mainly on the art, architecture and history of the ‘Armenian Church / Monastery’ in the Syrian quarter of the city and will progress in tandem with conservation work being carried out there by World Monuments Fund and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. A scholarship is available for this work. About the scholarship: • Candidature of 2-4 years. Minimum 2 years of residency at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.. • Outstanding students will be offered a 4-year scholarship which includes a monthly stipend of S$2, 000 and annual tuition fee. The monthly stipend will be increased to S$2, 500 upon passing of Qualifying Exam • On-campus housing available for the first year at highly subsidized rate • Application for August 2014 intake opens from 1st August 2013 to 15th November 2013. Candidates with a undergraduate or Masters degree from an institution where the language of instruction is English, are exempted from taking the TOEFL.
