Philip Seymour Hoffman, rest in peace. Shocking and sad to lose - TopicsExpress

Philip Seymour Hoffman, rest in peace. Shocking and sad to lose such a talent. My heart goes out to all who loved him and are impacted by his great loss. Like so many others, I thought he was a geinus at his craft. But on a personal note, he once read one of my screenplays, in the earlier days of my writing when I was scared to death and insecure, and said that I had created one of the most memorable scripts and some of the most exceptional characters he had ever read. His feeback was so kind that he (and Mary Louise Parker) were the reason I kept writing screenplays. It was just a momentary interaction with a great artist, but one I felt compelled to recount because sometimes we are unaware of how our smallest kindnesses can impact another life. I pray that he is at peace, and that his loss will remind us all that heroin is on the rise again and that we need to remind our artists and youth that it is essentially the same thing as taking poison - its most often fatal.
