Philippine Education is a completely queer system. Basically, it has a vision and mission that were intellectually crafted; intelligibly communicated; but going through it, we have a completely mismatched activities as stated in the vision and mission. Digging deep, our vision seeks only to develop a child holistically. What do this bulk of paper works have to do with the vision??? Did this develop the CHILD? I hope it did but it didnt. Theyve been expecting our schools to be beautiful but the school MOOE has a lot of restrictions and we understand that as per accounting procedure suggests. And since we understand that, we become resourceful by tapping our stakeholders, however, the DepEds No collection policy which again, we understand as mandated by our constitution that basic education should be free and compulsory, made us more miserable. Why have we built this image for school principals and teachers? So despicable that we have to be at the mercy of others to meet the needs of school children under our care. So queer that when they intend to monitor every school, they act as if they have provided everything for our learners. Weve been exposed to words such as these things should be observed, you should have this, you must do this when the school head lacks manpower and resources. If what we understand about delegation is asking the teachers to do the mountainous work in addition to their teaching task, then who are we depriving of quality time? It is still the CHILD because the most basic function of teachers is to teach and that alone will consume their very life (just imagine writing daily lesson plans, constructing instructional materials where in other countries the government provides for teachers, daily contact with a maximum of 56 pupils in a classroom not even designed for this number, careful assessment of students learning and many more). Despite of these, we continue to serve with utmost dedication for the CHILD who is the center of the whole process. But the government could make us happier if our voice would be heard-even just once. Since its teachers month, the best appreciation we could ever receive is to for the people to realize what it means to be a TEACHER....
