Physically challenged people protest PRADIP LOHAGUN, KALIMPONG, 17 Jul 2014: Protesting against being deprived of government benefits for them, a group of physically challenged people held a protest in front of the Sub-divisional Office in Kalimpong. The main reason for protest was due to the irregularities in the payment of aid provided to the members of Parvatiya Apang Kalyan Sangathan by the government. The members of the organisation, led by Sangathan president Chotalal Prashad, demonstrated in front of the office for over two hours. Taking to reporters after the protest, Prashad alleged there is rampant corruption on the benefits provided by the central government for the disabled people in Kalimpong. “The administration should not snatch the little benefit the disabled people get and should immediately provide it to us. If the administration fails to do so we will soon start a broader movement,” he warned. [The Echo of India]
