Picture it: Denver 1994, Paramount Theatre. I loved Pearl Jam with a fervor only teenage girls can understand. Mom got me tix (for my classical music loving mom this was a huge leap of faith) and stayed parked outside the entire time, while I enjoyed my first concert. I remember her advice Dont smoke ANYTHING-but Sam, have a great time. The Frogs opened and I remember being pretty scared but I was close to the stage (only ably to obtain single tix my partner in crime Megan sat up top). Then the lights went down. I saw a spotlight on a bottle of red wine and there he was-relatable and larger than life, Eddie Vedder. The notes to Indifference (still one of my favorites) started. I was changed forever. I knew at that moment, while not a musician, I had a profound connection to music, which I found in my photography. Today, 20 years later I will see that band again.
