Plans for the annual Corangamite Foodies Feast in March are well underway with an extended festival program planned for 2015. The Corangamite Foodies Feast Dinner is part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival regional Victorian program which runs for one week in March. The main event will be a dinner for 180 patrons on Friday 13 March in Camperdown. A banquet menu has been designed by the Timboon Railway Shed Distillery with local beers, wine and cider to complement the menu. Corangamite Shire has also been working closely with food businesses and the community to extend the program across the Shire and provide a range of complementary activities. This approach will also provide visitors with additional opportunities to experience the great range of products available within the Shire. The inclusion of additional food businesses is important in ensuring the long term success of the event. Foodie master classes are now on the new and improved program, with a home cheese making workshop already fully booked out and a sparkling wine workshop hosted by Newtons Ridge Estate Winery to be held on 15 March. Corangamite Shire Economic Development Officer, Sara Napier said that the Picnic with a’Paca event on 14 March is best described as a food and fibre fair, featuring food tastings from members of the 12 Apostles Food Artisans group. “Picnic goods will be available for purchase and event patrons will be able to enjoy their lunch in the picturesque bush setting of Farmshop 1580 at Ecklin South. Alpacas and other farm animals will also be on show. “We are also pleased that Terang College will be part of the program with an open day on 21 March showcasing the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden at the school and the opportunities that the program offers students in regards to food education,” Mrs Napier said. The Corangamite Foodies Feast will be held in Camperdown on Friday 13 March 2015 and tickets are available from Corangamite Shire on 5593 7100 or online at corangamitefoodiesfeast
