Please, pretty please with a cherry on top, dont be one of those people posting the videos about how the James Foley execution was supposedly faked. There is absolutely nothing to be gained from this. It wont influence the narrative, and it will discredit you in the eyes of all but the fringiest of the fringe. Remember when it comes to information activism, credibility is everything. Guard it carefully. UPDATE: Some people have commented along the lines of what if it was faked? or but it was faked!... My response: It doesnt matter whether it was or not. You have to pay attention to what can be won or lost in a battle and choose your battles. Again there is absolutely NOTHING that can or will be won by running this narrative. Stopping this war is going to be very, very difficult, so you need to think strategically and aim carefully. Dont just shoot randomly because you saw something move in the distance. To those who are absolutely convinced that the video was a fake, and wonder how on earth I could recommend you drop this narrative... lets use another metaphor: think of information activism like chess, and credibility is your queen. There are moments when you have the opportunity to take out a pawn, and its ever so tempting, but doing so will cost you your queen. A smart chess player will ignore the pawn and look for a better move.
