Please see below information in relation to a workshop - Building & safeguarding good quality lives for people with disability using the microboard approach, hosted by Microboards Canberra, to be held on October 25, 2013 – October 26, 2013. Microboards are a small group of family members and friends who gather around a single individual to form an incorporated association for the benefit of that individual. A Microboard’s role can include assisting with coordinating support services, finding and keeping employment, facilitating friendships & social community. The approach is similar to circles of support. The key difference is that incorporation allows the microboard to obtain funding that can be used to sustain the microboard and the ongoing support it provides – even when the primary carers are no longer around. The workshop will be led by Jaquie Mills from Vela Microboards Australia and Linda Perry from Vela Microboards Canada who have both been very successful in implementing microboards. To register or find out more about the workshop please go to our Microboards Canberra website. microboardscanberra.org.au/ai1ec_event/54-2/?instance_id=26
