Please take a moment and think of these guys and their families and loved ones. What they do is one of the most difficult and dangerous jobs, made worse by activists who believe the only forest management practice they approve of is putting out the fires when they start - while ignoring their obstructionist tactics are what cause many of these fires, or at least cause them to be more severe, in the first place. They have a very long history in AZ in particular - repeatedly suing over spotted owl habitat. They refused all efforts at proper forest management in their misguided quest to save the spotted owl habitat. In doing so they allowed a massive amount of fuel o buildup, which eventually was gonna burn. And when it did it was not a "cleansing" fire as in nature - but a blast furnace that sterilized the very ground. Huge areas of the spotted owls habitat in those areas is now gone altogether. Although studies showed most simply flew to another area.
