Please take time read this story. THANK GOD THAT YOU WERE BORN IN A FAMILY WHERE YOU ARE SERVED WITH A SILVER PLATE!!!!! LIFE STORY NEVER GIVE UP! Thank God, that you were born in a family, where you are served with a silver plate am a girl of 20 years and happed to have been born in a poor family. Sabin by tribe, Ugandan by nationality, residing at Entebbe town as a waiter. It was unfortunate for me. I went to school as I was with my both parents. I studied to P.4 third term when I happened to lose my lovely mum. So as a young girl, I stayed home for at least three months, and no one encouraged me about studies not even dad. When the three months were gone, dad had to marry a new wife who became too hostile to all of us in the family as we were six children, me being the third born. Things became worse to the extent that this woman at the time when her brothers were circumcised, she got my late mum’s clothes, such as skirts gave her brothers to put on yet this is almost a curse for a son to wear a mother’s cloth after circumcision in our culture of Sabin. What a problem she became in the family. She sent one of the elder sisters to take these clothes, and warned her never to let her dad aware. To make it worse dad arrived before the girl was back. Asking her where she was, she answered your daughter has developed characters of moving at night maybe she is looking for men. Daddy, from nowhere developed temper and waited to see this girl back. Just a few minutes, she came, found dad around and she was beaten to the extent that she was taken to the hospital by neighbors. And when my sister got well, she went in exile for three years without coming home and we never saw her again. My follower got pregnant in primary seven before completing and also disappeared and I remained alone at home for at least three weeks. One morning, dad received a call from one of my aunties who resides in Kenya. That I should go and pick some clothes, which she bought for us at the border. So, that was an advantage for me to inform her about all that had happened after burial. But before I even went to pick those clothes, I first had to inform this step mum. She responded, ‘was I the one who killed your mum so that I care for these children’. I left but told my follower to mostly care for the youngest sister as I went to aunt’s place. At my aunt, she gave me what I went for and requested me to sleep there but because of my sisters who happen to lack care, I had to refuse and went back cooked, ate, and then after eating, the step mum came with her brother who told me that I want to spoil his sister’s marriage? I answered him, he should wait for my dad and do report me? If I really have any problem with him. From no were, I did not know there legic behind. My step mum, threw her young baby down and started beating me and when I tried to escape out from her, her brother who was standing aside, gave me again a hot slap which led me to knock the wall and, I fainted for atleast 15 minutes which I can’t tell because I was out of sense. When I came back to my senses, my young brother who witnessed, called me, telling me dad is coming ran back. I walked upto welcomed him, but he instead ran after me, almost a kilometer, wanting to beat me again. We ran after each other till we reached a certain bridge and some two men who were also crossing caught me. Also reached, so these men asked him, why he was chasing me. He did not answer them, but he instead told me to rash back, he finds me home without wastage of time. To me, I knew if I went home, he was still going to beat me the way he bate my sisters, so I decided to go like heading home, but I ended on the way whereby I slept under a spoiled car along the road side. This happened at exactly 10:00pm in the night At around 2:00pm, some Robbers who wanted may be to steal fuel, came, and I was so shocked to see them because I knew they would either kill or rape me. I screamed aloud but they consoled me and told me to go and sleep another side because some others may kill me there. I feared to go where they had told me and just walked along the road, heading to my ground mother’s home at a distance of 8 (eight) kilometers ahead. Arriving at my ground mother was at 7:00am in the morning. I walk my uncle who became surprised to see me in such dirty clothes, tired, sleepy and shading tears. He just did not ask, me anything but he lead to sleep, my sleep took me till 10:00am, then b he had to wake me and told me he was going to hospital then back because my grandmother was admitted while the grandfather was also sick but at home. All these, took me four days without talking with anybody in the family but It was unfortunate, grandmother passed away. And during this burial all the family members did not want to see my father to attend their burial because of his abuse to us. On the burial day, he came but all the family members of my mother, chased him away, he went back and I had to remain at my uncles’ place / grandfathers’ place for like four months. Again grandfather also passed away, leaving us with only uncle. The next week, my uncles wrote a letter to me, telling me that he is sorry to leave me alone but go and stay with another uncle. That was his journey to army as a soldier. At the other uncles’ place, he had a family of five children plus his wife, I stayed with them for a full year whereby I was taken back to school in primary five at a school called Gamatui boys / mixed school. Soon to start examinations, the uncles’ wife also passed away, that was in 2003. After the burial, we remained almost total orphans, I become stag, and did not go back to school And as my uncle was now handling a big family, I had thought of going back home but, I refused. And went to the grandfather’s place where dad was born. Reaching there, grand was glad to see me. After just a week, I got information that one of my sisters got married and I had to look for her. A dream I had was to help my sister not to harden with life. I started going for contracts such that I could buy babies clothes and providing her some other properties, but all in all life was not easy. All these were done not to let my step mum and dad aware, that I was even sinking clothes to those children who remained at home. As time went on, one morning I told sister that I wanted to go. I I told her atleast lend me like 1000/= but she did not have what came in my minds was to go deceive some people who used to take maize for sale at Nakawa – Kampala, that my uncle has sent me to you to take me and drop me at the city. And they agreed, I had to climb up on a loaded track full of maize, when we reached Nakawa. They asked me where my uncle’s contact was………… I answered them, that I am sorry!!!, I just wanted you to help me but feared to tell before reaching here. They were abit annoyed of me. What they had to do. They directed me to a certain tribe mate of mine. I went there they welcomed me and stayed with them for a full week mean while looking for me a job as a house maid. And I happened to get a certain woman who employed me as a house maid as she could pay me 10,000/= per month. At this home, I was taking care of two young children and on the side of eating, the whole family could be the first to eat, and then I was supposed to eat left – overs daily. This was such a hard life which I can not explain. I managed to work there for eight months till I decided to leave and went to work at another woman’s home who also had two children and was pregnant with a bar. After working there for nine months without payment. She kept telling me she would pay at the last day of the ninth months. And I had to endure for all that time. At the end of it all she paid me only 70,000/=. Out of 180,000/= because per month was 20,000/=. I tried to go to the chairman, the lady told people that she had been paying me by the end of every month. The decision I made then was to go to the church, pastor welcomed me and as time went on kept narrating to him my life problems. He stayed with me at his family for a full month. They got me a job somewhere. Where I worked for six months. The work was, washing clothes such as clothes which daughters of that home used for padding themselves, plus other clothes, plates and all other domestic work was mind. Later on, I told that lady that I wanted to go home. She allowed me to go for three days but I spent their four days and had to come back. When I came back my boss told me that she had got another worker (housemaid). I tried to call pastor but his phone was not available at the moment. And l even had no money to proceed to pastor’s place Then I decided to visit another church and requested a certain girl whom I found their to help me. She accepted but she did not tell me that it was a church for small gods but she told me to go with her to where their pastor was. Reaching their, it was a witch craft place. She was told that she had taken a wrong person and she was ordered to take me back. We went along with her and left me at the road where I did not know the way. Of good luck, a certain motor cyclist came, found me and asked to know my problem, I explained to him and he helped me here. I had to give him the former pastor’s contact, he called him and he was directed to take me there. On reaching pastors place he was glad to see me alive again. He welcomed as and he paid the motorcyclist and he went away. I stayed again at his place for a month and he looked for me a job at the Koreans whereby part of my job was washing Dogs, Vehicles, cooking for them and dogs and on top of that, I was like an a gate attendant as well because I was expected to even open the gate whenever they got in and out. In two years time, I asked the lady (my both) to help me with some 40,000 Uganda Shillings because my brother was sick not he village, she told me she did not have yet I was a ware she had and even knew were it was. As I was told my brother was in a critical condition, I decided to remove this woman’s part of the money knowing that I would explain to her later. But she came and realized immediately even before I sent that money home. I tried to explain and beg for forgiveness but I did not know that she had just pretended to have forgiven me and she later sent me out of her home. Although, they treated me the way they wanted I thank them because my life changed to a different understanding standard. They chased me like around 2:00pm in the evening and for sure, I had nowhere to go. From there, what came into minds was to board a vehicle, which could take me anywhere. As I entered into that taxi, something entered also and spoke to me a very loud voice like for my late mum. Telling me to go back home and see the children. I had remembered before boarding the vehicle but coming back into sense, I was in the hospital totally mad. And when they were blasting her grave, she launched at me in a very loud voice but I could not see where the sound was coming from. These were really my late mum’s voice, thanking me for participating in organization of her grave. It was saying thank you x 3. After I got well, when that spirit went away. I became like mad, actually I was told later that I even wanted to hang up myself twice but they rescued me. At last I went to the church for prayers which helped me back in normal senses. And I did not want to see my father again in my life, the step mum included. Then hatred came to my life, to the extent that I really wanted to loose myself. I poured paraffin in my ears, but still I did not die. All relatives and friends I hated. I looked for twenty thousand shillings to bring me back to Kampala went to a certain church they helped me and stayed there like our home but my dream was to work. Then one day, pastor said there was a lady who wanted a house maid yet I was tired of being a house maid because of mistreatments I ever went through. This lady came and I told her if she can just stay with me like a mum, without even paying me any amount. She told me she has welcomed me in her family and I do appreciate the way she took care of me. It took a year and four months while I was with her. One morning, I told her I have people whom I take care off and these are my brothers, sisters. And I got a job at Entebbe whereby, I worked in selling pork for one and a half year. Life was very hard for me but all this required endurance. These enabled me to help my brothers and sisters in providing needs like clothes, and all school requirements including school fees, and on my side paying rent. After all these, my boss was married and the wife later had a thought that I may befriend her husband. The lady started mistreating me. And even one day. She wanted to pour on me boiled hot cooking oil. So I decided to leave that place. Still I stayed the house I had rented for a week meanwhile looking for a job later on, I got a job as a waiter at Entebbe Town, where I am still upto to day. The reasons as to why I have written this to the community is? 1. I still have hope of going back to school 2. My brothers and sisters need school fees 3. I have to pay rent for myself. The story continues. Time came when I was two years old in my job and I had banked some money. I shopped many things which included:- clothes for children, dad’s suit plus shoes, step mums dress with shoes and a blanked which I wanted to give dad, then I had to visit them in the village reaching there. The step mum welcomed me but the fact is:- I had even forgotten her children apart from the last born who resembled dad so much. On the next day, I started supplying them with these things as I started with her (step mum). Then when I just had a step to move out, she told my sister who was in the house in a painful way. That, lucky are those who produced first because he has received the most expensive things how about me. After distributing all these, I told her I w as supposed to leave to grandmothers’ place. She promised me a hen. And she suggested that one of the children will bring for me to the grand’s place but in my heart I doubted about her promised to me for the first time. The moment I reached grand’s place before even having a seat, the child arrived with that hen but when I tried to catch that hen, all my body lost strength, then grand asked what was wrong and she also caught that hen and said there is a problem. And prayed for me. She also felt strengthless and told that kid to put it down himself. Grand said, let the Almighty God protect me. Yet in the next morning, like at around five AM, I was supposed to board back to Kampala plus that hen, me plus my sister went to the stage waiting for the taxis. The first one came, lighted danger, went, second, third then the fourth one when it came I had already lost hope of traveling any more. We went back home but we left that hen along the road. Reaching home life became okey. So I think she had a plan of killing me but in vain. My Question is what should I do? Because I am almost homeless and where I am working the amount is not enough to meet my needs plus school fees for both my sisters and brothers. So in this world, never give up, and always trust God.
