Pleased to announce my upcoming concerts and concert concept with the Orfeo Chamber Choir at the end of March, in the areas surrounding Frankfurt. A joint program...choir concert/flute recital in 3 segments. After much recent thought and experiences a program was chosen, I was asked by the artistic director for my concert concept and this was it: Suchen - Finden - Verlieren My inspiration for this program is to show a constant search and a constant finding...then with each new segment, it is thrown into the lost nature again to find and lose again. It starts with the J.S. Bach Partita for solo flute, which searches for its true tonality in the Allemande movement. Density 21.5 for me is a constant expansion and reaching of intervals, sounds, and colors and by the end triumphs in its self-discovery. The final segment begins with the nervous energy of the Berio Sequenza for solo flute, which is volatile, combustible, but vulnerable at the same time. It protects these vulnerable aspects with walls of complexity and difficulty, but when these barriers are broken, it shines with all its jagged edges...only to finish with the story of Pan and Syrinx, in Debussys Syrinx...In Pans pursuit of Syrinx, she disguised herself as reeds near the river. Pan finds her, and when he releases a frustrated breath, the reeds sing a haunting melody. He then cuts the reeds and shapes them into his flute. Which reduces him to a tragic fate, in possessing Syrinx these melodies will always be a reminder of a lost love, never a celebration of a love found. These ideas are at the forefront of my mind in my presentation of these 5 standard solo flute pieces, with the theme: Suchen - Finden - Verlieren (to search - to find - to lose)... (C.P.E. Bach solo Sonate is also programmed)
