Pogal Paristaan News COALITION YET TO START FILLING UP OF 80000 POSTS Srinagar: As the state elections are nearing and the promises of filing up of the vacant posts are yet to be fulfilled, the government here continues to remain tight lipped over the issue. The reports maintained that the chief minister Omar Abdullah ahead of the 2008 assembly polls assured that the 60000 vacant posts in the government departments will be filled during his tenure. Now when his regime is about to complete six years in office and the number of the vacant posts grew from 60000 to 80000, Omar prefers silence over the issue. Scores of unemployed youth while taking dig at the government stated that the authorities have turned blind eye towards their plight with more emphasis being given on the polls than on people. “We fail to understand what is stopping the state authorities to fill the vacant posts in the government departments. We are not asking for any undue favor but the selection on merits,” said Waseem Ahmad, who has qualified masters in computer sciences. He said that last year, the state government earned crores when it advertised posts at SSB. Candidates in lacs submitted the forms along with the affidavits but the posts bever witnessed day’s light. Candidates cautioned that the situation could turn dreadful anytime as the unemployment among the qualified ones is landing them in depression with the government that claims to represent people- act as ‘mute spectators.’ The PSC in the recent past after the stay order was lifted, advertised around 1600 posts of assistant Professors but the advertisement was again challenged in the court of law- affecting the academics in the state badly. The details informed that in the educational centers of the state a major chunk of contractual teachers are roiling the roost. This newspaper has earlier reported that the higher education and school education departments have 2109 and 1515 vacancies in gazetted cadre respectively and school education in non gazetted cadre having 12372 vacant posts. In the department of Home there are 6678 posts lying vacant while as in Finance department more than 2042 posts are yet to be fulfilled .In state’s forest department there are 1848 number of posts vacant. Reports have also informed that the education department of the state has highest number of posts lying vacant with the figures suggesting 22894 vacancies followed by Home department that has 9019 posts. Earlier the state authorities had maintained that (GAD) has been asked to identify more vacant positions to be filled through Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2014. Reports also stated that various departmental committees are selected to fill up the class fourth positions. The selection process has been geared up to complete the process of recruitment.
