Point Northeast Historical Societys annual program, FEB 13, features author Richard W. Blumenthal, who has researched and produced a book, Maritime Place Names: Inland Washington Waters. He has also published related works like: Early Exploration of Inland Washington Waters and another With Vancouver in Inland Washington Waters where he provides insights from the logs of Captain George Vancouver and his crew who in 1792 came ashore in our area during explorations of the South Sound. See the plaque outside the Browns Point Lighthouse cottage commemorating the event.
