Police and rescue services assist young surfers in distress - Little Bay About 5:00pm yesterday (Sunday 15th September 2013), police were called to Little Bay in Sydney’s south east following reports of two teenage boys in distress offshore. It is believed the two teenagers were surfing at a rocky location near The Coast Golf Course with friends before getting in trouble after one of the boys lost his bodyboard in dangerous surf conditions. Police from the Eastern Beaches Local Area Command as well as the Police Helicopter PolAir 1 attended the scene to co-ordinate a rescue. The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter as well as lifesavers from Surf Life Saving Sydney and Randwick Council Lifeguards attended the scene and retrieved the boys from the water. They were assessed by paramedics from the New South Wales Ambulance Service before being reunited with family. The boys did not suffer any injuries during the incident and are believed to be regular surfers at the location. Police remind the public that extreme care should be taken when engaging in any aquatic activity on our coastline, particularly rock fishing and surfing when sea conditions are dangerous.
