Police from Redfern Local Area Command have charged a man following investigations into three separate armed robberies involving taxi drivers in the Waterloo area. Between Wednesday July 9,and Friday July 11, 2014, three taxi drivers were robbed at knifepoint in the Redfern/Waterloo area. The taxi drivers were not injured during the robberies, and on each occasion an amount of cash was stolen before the armed man ran from the scene. Each incident was reported to Redfern police who conducted a full investigation culminating in the arrest of a man in a unit on Pitt Street, Waterloo, yesterday afternoon (Monday 14 July, 2014).. The 23-year-old man was taken to Redfern Police Station where he was charged with three counts of robbery while armed with an offensive weapon. He was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court today (Tuesday 15 July, 2014).
