Police have charged a 34-year-old man with reckless wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm following an alleged glassing incident in Newtown last week. About 11.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014, a 24-year-old woman had a brief conversation with an unknown man at a hotel in King Street. It’s alleged the man threw a glass in her face, before punching her 28-year-old female friend in the face. The man then fled the hotel with another woman and emergency services were notified. The 24-year-old woman was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment for a cut to her lip. Her friend did not seek medical attention. Following an investigation by detectives from Newtown Local Area Command, a 34-year-old man presented at Newtown Police Station about 6pm yesterday (Monday 28 April 2014. He was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and one of reckless wounding. The man was refused bail to appear in Newtown Local Court today (Tuesday 28 April 2014).
