Police officer thrashes youth mercilessly ‘Inquiry ordered, if proven guilty will face the music’: Police =>A youth was thrashed mercilessly by a police party led by Sub-Inspector Khanyar police station Ghulam Hasan for parking his van (JK01M-7515) near a shop at Abikarpora Dalgate area of Srinagar City. The victim along with a foreign tourist in tattered clothes appeared in Press Enclave to narrate the woeful tale. Displaying his bruised body, Reyaz Ahmed Shangloo (28) told CNS that he had parked his van at a proper place in Abikarpora Dalgate. “I saw few policemen trying to deflate the tyres of my van. When I stopped them they hit my van with canes and caused damage to it. My only utterance that ‘you are violating the law’, infuriated the Sub-Inspector Ghulam Hasan and his men and they all pounced on me. They thrashed me in full public glare. It was humiliating for me as a foreign tourist was accompanying me,” the youth said adding that sub-inspector dragged him and torn his clothes. He alleged that that Sub-Inspector told him not to report to anyone. Quoting Sub-Inspector Police Station Khanyar, the youth said that he told him that, “I am Dabang Inspector who follows his own rules. My name is Chulbul Pandey.” He said that the said Sub-Inspector also snatched Rs 8200 and a golden chain. Confirming the incident, the foreign tourist from Sweden Mr Esha told CNS that cops violated the human rights and treated Reyaz Shangloo as a cattle. Shangloo said that he is grateful to SSP Srinagar for feeling his pain. “I approached SSP who directed SDPO Khanyar to look into the matter,” he said. He said that after beating him to pulp the police party also seized his vehicle and drove away in their own vehicle (JK02AV-5746). SP City North Tahir Saleem told CNS that an inquiry committee headed by SDPO Khanyar has been constituted to probe the matter. “If proved guilty, Sub-Inspector Ghulam Hasan would be suspended and other cops will also face the music,” he said.
