Police system like any other system is a victim of stereotyping. - TopicsExpress

Police system like any other system is a victim of stereotyping. There are bad people for sure but to reject them as a bunch of immoral, uncouth bullies is idiotic. We can’t respect our army men on one hand while denigrating our policemen on the other. Police and Army are two different pest control and extermination units which are meant to control pests inside the country and the ones at the border respectively. And it becomes all the more aggravating when a political party starts vilifying the Police system. Aam Aadmi Party known for its anti-system, anti-status-quo campaigns is one such party. One of their ads on FM Radio presents police in a very bad light. A girl gets harassed on her way to home; she goes to police station to file a complaint. Policemen do not show any interest in registering the complaint; they in fact tell her to provide evidence and other stuff as evidence. Basically they turn down her appeal. Now the hapless girl comes out of the station and urges people to vote for AAP BECAUSE only they can ensure women safety in Delhi. Whether or not they need the police system is not explained in the ad. Delhi police has reacted strongly and has asked the FM stations to stop the ad . The ad is not just an idiotic attempt at maligning police and glorifying AAP but is also a terrible piece of Advertisement art that does more harm to the product than helping it. Previously AAP’s leader Somnath Bharti did a vigilante when he raided colonies inhabited by Nigerian people. Another AAP leader Rakhi Birlan accompanied him. Bharti was accused of racist behaviour and also playing a vigilante which is a more polite way of saying an “Outlaw”. When Mr. Bharti was condemned by press, people and politicians alike, Mr. Kejriwal sat on a long Dharna which lasted for good 6-7 days. The dharna was against police system and he wanted Delhi Police to work under the Delhi government and not as an independent unit. The fact that Delhi is a special city-state and is prone to terrorist attacks and it houses more VIPs than all cities of India weren’t considered. He stood up one fine day and declared that he has won and along with him, the people of India have won. Aam Aadmi Party needs to grow up and stop blaming the system every single time. If they want to survive, they need to come up with real agendas. Blame games and hit-and-run are not in vogue anymore. - Atul Kumar Mishra
