Political analyst Khoo Kay Peng, however, said Bersih’s impartiality post-GE13 is questionable as some of the Bersih steering committee members were openly campaigning for Pakatan Rakyat during elections. “We have to ask the question who made the appointment. Hence, there’s where the problem begins,” he said. “There were a number of Bersih committee members who have campaigned for Pakatan. (National laureate A Samad Said) Pak Samad openly supported Pakatan’s position. “Bersih will be able to stay on a higher moral ground by being impartial,” he added. He also said the tribunal should not solely depend on complaints lodged by the people, as there is a tendency for the complaints to be filed against Barisan Nasional (BN). “I’m quite concerned that eventually it will turn out to be lopsided, where 100% allegations of fraud would only be on the BN side. Would they also listen to cases or allegations committed by Pakatan? “Impartiality cannot be determined by solely looking at the BN side, there needs to be a broader assessment of the electoral process,” he added. .................
