Poor Michael Lesin. A dedicated lifelong government employee, and vocal Putin ally, he was involved with many respected state owned media companies such as Interfax, RIA Novosti and Gazprom Media. He also worked on the creation of Russia Today, a news channel we all watch and love. In 2009 he found a few extra shekels in his BVI account, and he decided to buy his wonderful kids, son Anton, and daughter Ekaterina (both residing in LA), a few houses (four actually) in Beverly Hills, California, for a total cost $28,000,000. Somehow (???), U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi) was alerted, and he sent a letter to the US Attorney General Holder, requesting that Department of Justice investigate whether Lesin’s real estate purchases were a violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act or Anti-Money Laundering statutes. “That a Russian public servant could have amassed the considerable funds required to acquire and maintain these assets … raises serious questions,” Wicker wrote. The DoJ responded on December 3, 2014, the letter received December 6, 2014, letter attached. IMHO, America has a terrible investment climate for stolen taxpayers money, regardless of country of origin. But more importantly, i feel really bad for his kids, Anton and Ekaterina, forced to be away from their beloved homeland...
