Pope tells Burma democracy leader the world needs less hate Pontiff meets Aung San Suu Kyi to discuss love and understanding 28 October, 13:28 (see related) (ANSA) - Rome, October 28 - Pope Francis spoke of the need for more love and understanding in the world, during a meeting on Monday, said Burmese opposition politician Aung San Suu Kyi. The Holy Father told me that emotions such as hatred and fear diminish life and the value of the person, Suu Kyi, who won the Nobel prize for peace two decades ago, said after her meeting with Francis. (He said) we need to value love and understanding to improve the lives of people. Suu Kyi spoke at a news conference following a meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino. Earlier in the day, she met separately with Premier Enrico Letta where he expressed support for a transition to democracy in Burma.
