Portugal and Cuba ready to support Timor-Leste *Diario, October 4, 2013 Language source: Tetun During the President of the Republic, Taur Matan Rauak (TMR)’s visit to Portugal and Cuba, the two countries said they were ready to continue supporting Timor-Leste. According to Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Costancio Pinto who accompanied PR Taur in his visit, Portugal’s President, Cavaco Silva and Cuban President, Raul Castro said that they were ready to help Timor-Leste in the areas which the country needed. After arriving from the visit, at Nicolau Lobato Air Port on Thursday 3, Deputy Minister Costancio Pinto said, “Our president asked his counterpart Portuguese President, Cavaco Silva to support Timor-Leste in leading Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) Presidency next year and Cavaco Silva pledged to help Timor-Leste anytime we need.” He added, “When meeting with Cuban President, Raul Castro, they talked about other possible areas that need Cuba’s help in spite of Health and Education.”
