PRESIDENT KENYATTA CHEERS TEAM KENYA AT LUZHNIKI STADIUM Moscow, Russia, 17th August 2013 By PSCU President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta were last evening among thousands of sports fans who thronged Luzhniki Stadium to cheer up the Kenyan athletes participating in the 5000 meters finals. Kenyan Isaiah Kiplagat Koech won a bronze medal in a tight race which saw Mo Farah of Britain retain his title while the Silver went to Ethiopian Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia. On the sidelines of the IAAF event, President Kenyatta met and held talks with the IAAF President Lamine Diack. Their talks focused on the possibilities of Kenya hosting world youth championships in 2019. The Head of State invited Diack to visit Kenya as soon as possible for further discussions. President Kenyatta said his Government policy was not only to tap raw talent of athletes but to also make sure that sports became a source of income. The President was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Amb. Amina Mohammed,Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Arts, Hassan Wario, Athletic Kenya President Isaiah Kiplagat and Kenyan Ambassador to Russia Paul Kurgat.
