Postdoc in Seismology, University of Southampton, UK Location: National Oceanography Centre Southampton Salary: £27,854 to £34,223 Full Time Fixed Term Closing Date: Thursday 11 July 2013 Interview Date: To be confirmed Reference: 253213HN The School of Ocean and Earth Science at the National Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton, UK seeks a Research Fellow in the field of seismology with a focus on imaging crust and mantle discontinuities to understand dynamics and tectonics. The aim of the project is to increase the global understanding of the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary, the formation and evolution of the lithosphere, continent formation, and/or melting processes beneath volcanically active regions. The postholder will have the opportunity to use several regional datasets and also to compare findings to the IRIS FARM database to attain a global perspective. Full waveform modelling will be employed to test the accuracy of interpretations. Applicants should have a PhD in Geophysics and experience in seismic data analysis. Funding is guaranteed for one year, although there is the potential for extension. Ideally, the successful candidate would commence between September 2013 and January 2014.
