Posted on: June 18, 2014 City of Apache Junction Initiates the Water for Living Project Apache Junction, Arizona……………………………………………………June 18, 2014 Throughout the month of July, citizens will have the opportunity to help those in need by donating cases of water to the Water for Living project. The concept for the project originated when City of Apache Junction’s Vice Mayor Robin Barker provided her bottle of water to a woman in need. Vice Mayor Barker shared “I feel it is vitally important that we insure that those folks who have fallen on hard times have access to water that is so critically necessary during the hot summer months”. Support for the project quickly grew, the City of Apache Junction, Walmart, Apache Junction Food Bank, Apache Junction Water District, Friends of Apache Junction, Genesis Project and the Salvation Army joined together to sponsor the month long effort. As temperatures continue to rise, access to water becomes an even greater necessity. Give the gift of life to those in need here in Apache Junction. Donating to the Water for Living project will help ensure water is accessible to those who need it within the community. On July 1, water donations can be made at the Apache Junction Walmart, Apache Junction Food Bank, Genesis Project, Salvation Army, Multi-Generational Center, Apache Junction Public Library and the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce. Monetary donations can be made through the Friends of Apache Junction with “Donation-Water for Living” on the memo line, attention Taryn Pepper, 300 E. Superstition Blvd., Apache Junction, AZ 85119.
