ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region. This position is located in Transport Policy and Development Section (TPDS) in the Transport Division (TD). The incumbent reports to the Chief, TPDS. Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics, engineering, business administration, law or other related fields. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Work Experience At least seven years (or nine years for candidates with a first level university degree) of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, and/or application of economic principles in international development issues related to transport policy and planning is required. Experience in transport planning that utilizes the contributions of sustainable transport policies is required. Experience dealing with inter-modal connectivity in transport highly desirable. Experience working in the Asia-Pacific region with developing countries is highly desirable. Experience working in international organizations is desirable. Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
