Potential Patient Question (last night at a chamber event): Q: What is the difference between a conventional chiropractor and Structural chiropractor? Ive never heard of Structural Chiropractic? A: A good place to start is to first describe what traditional chiropractic entails; Traditional Chiropractic has three goals, they are to temporarily: Decrease Pain Increase Range of Movement Decrease Muscle Spasm These are all worthy goals. The majority of chiropractors in our area, I would describe as traditional chiropractors and I have no doubt they do a good job with these three goals. Structural Chiropractic, is a branch of chiropractic that focuses on the correction of your spine back to within normal range. We look for what is called a Structural Displacement, which is a deviation of the vertebrae (spinal bones) that abnormally changes the angle of the spine, which constricts your nervous system and causes an obstruction of communication. This leads to a myriad of secondary conditions, you may know as symptoms (headaches, pain, headaches, etc.) Our goal is to detect these Structural Deviations and correct or enhance your spine back to the normal range AND teach you how to protect your corrections once made (so you do not become dependent on me). We do this with our Gentle Specific Spinal Corrections using our S.C.I., along with our Structural Rehabilitation using our Remodeling Tables and our Complementary Requirements, these help to fortify your spine.
